Across the frozen tundra
Across the skree
Broken rocks for a hundred miles
I read a book about an expedition tasked by the Queen of England
To sail to the North Pole
-After they accomplished this they were to find a
Northern Passage above Canada-
The author of the book was a junior officer on the
Expedition
His father
was a portrait painter of English aristocracy
The Jr. Officer was put into the Royal Navy at age ten!
At one point on their progress to the North Pole they
Loaded the ships onto the ice and proceeded to drag the boats
Fifty miles on the ice northward
The navigator then took a reading of their location and
It turned out the ice
Had been traveling south
And they'd gone southward a hundred miles
I liken this to my life
