        Owl ma

    Her eyes 

    Are watching

          at night

      as you wander 

    the arroyo

       small boats

       and a dog

          Mice scamper

        ground squirrels are standing 

on their two back legs

          as a woman drowns

 beneath her teenage son

In the lake
