There weren't any signs in the sky

None. At least none that I could see. 

My eyes were okay but I'd had glasses since third grade

My glasses were always getting busted because I played a lot of rough and tumble games

Finally my parents bought me a pair of hard rubber glasses frames that you could bend all around and they wouldn't bust.

Saved them some money I think

My mom said I always picked out the most expensive clothes at the store.

I didn't look at the prices just what was cool.
