it had been awhile
since he had
thought about the floating
   bed boat
   still, he was sure
it was still there
  if he needed it

the bed boat was
supposedly
manufactured using
ambient dream waves
but he could never wrap his head
around that

it was impervious to theatrics
of weather
    like a snoozing patron
at the ballet
  the wind danced
 but zzzzzzzz
from the bed boat

 he'll probably need it again
some day
   after stumbling home
but not
tonight

How Long Have You Lived In San Francisco?

can you buy the
 the story
can you see the hearty sturgeon
  embraced by a kingfish
     the trident of
Neptune
   spearing the lungs
      of Jim Morrison
         -I'm walking here-
           I've seen
               vampires with warm tall boys
of malt liquor in their backpack
reciting poetry at
a cafe named after an elephant
 charge the people
 a dollar and a half
  throw the money changers out..
give to Caesar
   etc
 and a jacknife
   and a jackfruit life
    of misery
  i don't know what I'm talking about
here
but he was walking the seas
 chasing Nabu
   chasing Hanuman
      chasing Ahab
 chasing Amy
j.j. cale played that old broken guitar
          shuffling on down the hiway
I've seen poets on amino blockers
   talkin current events
    tom waits impersonators
        selling movie rights
           and buying shirts
 at full price-
  ---- it weren't jc penney
 i'm telling you that -
     I've seen a poet raised
by Franco in spain
   steal his girlfriends rental car
in San Francisco
  crazy 6th international shit
      -I've seen famous underground cartoonists
throw a poets journal in the
          warm sudsy water
              of a local drinking establishment
and the ink just ran
ran down the pages
   dripping
oh well

saw the wizard
 wander out of the
New Hampshire Woods
   -it must have been
about 1966
  right in the snow
near the place that had all the
broken washing machines
  and dryers sitting outside rusting
my dad said I stole those things
but the wizard gave them to me
they were in a little triangular stone bridge
that he built over the creek
in the woods near Eleanor's house
    I liked that Eleanor

see the man
holding the sky
holding the sky to the building
       see it?
nah man I don't
you know where I can sell these records
and I got some old mangoes too
     3 for a dollar
hey turn that frown upside down
it's a renowned bar not far from here
 shot and beer
 for buck fifty
   what, it closed?
 wonder why
     whattabout the King Starr?
that was our personal rec room
   near char-burgers
     when that album came out
we played the whole damn thing
like three times
you gonna buy this shit or not

the talk remains
    whistle
 while you die
     a slooooooooooow
 tune
    okay I believe you

the mercury boards
 the blood
 at distant stops
  you fight the desire
 to jump
and watch the trees fly by

When I was sixteen
my brother stole my grandfather's
32 Colt Police Special
and shot a hole in the neighbors
 windshield
    no one ever caught him
I still don't know
why he did it

stale crackers
 grumble grumble
 my landlady brought me a
   bowl of clam chowder
from her work
   it makes me worried
 but it's hot
    and i've got an
atmospheric river
  flowing thru my sinuses
and a cough to match
   i guess it's supposed to
make up for not having heat
but she can go screw herself
I'm calling the city tomorrow

eclipsing
  eclipsable
 passing
   gratitude
  for little things
(like clean socks, I guess)
   noting the years
in old handwriting
   some sad story that!
ah well what can we learn
   something maybe
after all this time

derivation
 of escalation
 strident
 like hydrant
  peed on
and waiting for disaster

There'll Be Some Changes Made
when the hero comes to town
There'll Be Some Changes Made
things just won't be the same
There'll Be Some Changes Made
you better button up your shoes
There'll Be Some Changes Made
you know if you paid your dues

There'll Be Some Changes Made
 time is running short
There'll Be Some Changes Made
 the fire's coming down
There'll Be Some Changes Made
  no more looking 'round
There'll Be Some Changes Made
 in this little town

They say that Samuel Beckett lived here for a while
They say that no one ever saw him smile
A truce, an accord, a treaty is forgotten
When Rolf says "Das ist Verbotten!"

There'll Be Some Changes Made
  the hero's in the dirt
There'll Be Some Changes Made
the stars are on your skirt
There'll Be Some Changes Made
the blood just won't wash off
There'll Be Some Changes Made
 time is not enough

please walk
    or don't
      see the sights
there are to see
   believe in a
passable reference
   to St. Somebody
   as Movement of Jah People

at the juncture
of disparate myopism
 - the reality of
 arroyo water
  - the profusion
  of neighbors
- the same thing over
and over
Story 1- the friar left the abbey with a sack of oats
Story 2- a blind woman wakes up in a 64 Ford Galaxie 500
Please Choose one
and reverse the polarities of your pool game - ask Bruce
shoot INTO the kitchen
stripes are now solid
it's not that confusing
he bought the car for $25!
of course that was many years ago...
someone bought a marantz tape deck and bolted it
to the floor under the drivers side of the front seat
   everything was going great
and then the diamond fell out
   on the gravel road
   the grey rolling hills
     of California

devoid of
 estuaries
 sympathetic
 to the cause
 refrained
 and barred
 from co-efficient syntacticisms
   the erstwhile effusions
 brokered a stymied
remedy:
that to be was to be
   no argument there
   "it is what it is"
 was repeatedly referenced
   and Pasolini was never mentioned

oh the
 dirty streets
   sand
 grime
   bits of trash
 blowing
    with a cold
 biting wind
you drink a glass of champagne
    and walk to the
beach
  whats on tv tonight
    and start thinking about
burritos
  you hear a passing conversation
   "she really messed that up"
 and wonder
   if you should quit
drinking so much
  but no
    bars are warm
 and it is cold out
  open the door

some
  stray

the dire warning

white privilege sees
 it's way through,

    and
 it may or may not

   somewhere
nearby
  so listen
 for that tv
   sound
       - I've got a twenty ounce
bag
of Peet's
    whole beans
    and the internets all
 suck it
   what?

    Le Chiffre's

save it for tomorrow
 you can't do it all
save it for tomorrow
you know you'll hit a wall

save it for tomorrow
the time just comes and goes
save it for tomorrow
  tomorrow never knows

save it for tomorrow
  it's eating up the heat
save it for tomorrow
   you never will get beat

save it for tomorrow
the time is not right now
save it for tomorrow
the game you play is how

save it for tomorrow
 the ryhmin is complete
save it for tomorrow
the word ain't on the street

save it for tomorrow
  the lights are going dim
save it for tomorrow
  a car without no rims

save it for tomorrow
 hello bright sunny day
save it for tomorrow
 tomorrow will have to pay
