 besmirched 

plagued by 

idiocy 

          the tide of 

 relief      

                      seen by the stranded 

      waterlogged 

                             a few carrots 

                             diving for pearls 

                          parking at an angle 

 and waiting

                                           for the shipwreck's green flash

              pirates are bouccaneers 

                       profiteers 

                                                for a government body

                        the steps are bloodied 

  and washed clean 

                                                        the mop and bucket back to their place in closet
